Savannah College of Art and Design Sand Arts Festival
Each year in May, the Savannah College of Art and Design holds its annual Sand Arts Festival on beautiful Tybee Island. Thousands of visitors enjoy temporary sand art masterpieces created on the island's north beach. Hundreds of SCAD students compete each year for cash prizes.
2009 EVENT
On Friday, May 8, 2009 the Savannah College of Art and Design held its annual Sand Arts Festival on Tybee Island, where thousands of visitors viewed temporary sand art masterpieces created by SCAD students on the island’s north beach. Roughly 300 SCAD students competed for cash prizes.

Sand Sculpture

"Daughter of the Ocean" won first place in the Sand Sculpture Contest. "Castle with Sticks and Shells" won first place in the Sand Castle Contest. "Mobile Pieces Bombshell" won first place in the Wind Sculpture Contest. The winning entry was created by Sebastian Campos, sophomore, industrial design, Mexico City, Mexico.
Gray’s Reef Best Underwater Creature Contest

2008 EVENT
The 2008 Sand Arts Festival was held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Tybee Island. More than 300 SCAD students competed in the popular fun event.
